Today marked the beginning of an intriguing court case in over a legal battle that started over two years ago when Interflora first raised their eyebrows to Google.
Google let advertisers bid on terms that are entered into the Google search box. These terms are known as keywords, and pre-2008 they were limited to generic terms. That means a flower company could bid on the keyword “flowers” but not on brand names, such as “interflora” or Guernsey’s own “Flowercard”.
